Hi all,

Made it down to Balboa today around 7sh and saw no one catching. Made a few futile attempts with a krock for nada and those I spoke to had the same experience. Bounced over to Newport Pier to have a looksie and saw a few medium sized macks along with sardines in buckets. People said the fish bit real early, around 5sh and it had been slow since then. No bonito or anything else.

Hi ya jsl,

The water has cooled down a bit....be patient....the bite will be back on again soon....be ready!
This is a good time to conduct a little Recon and to search-out a few new good looking spots for yourself!

Thanx for the report with the added INTEL!

I hit Newport Sat. Night from 10pm until 2am for 1 small sculpin (released) and that was it. Very little bait fish presence and the crabs where chewing all of the bait off. I did see three good sized shovelnose caught very shallow though. Very few macks were caught while I was there. Thanks for the report!

Hey Scott,
Been a while since I've seen a report from you.
You know how the pier action ( or lack of ) can be.
Like Dan wrote, the temperature drop will effect things.
The grunion are running, try giving that a shot!
Take Care,
Robert
