White Sea bass or Halibut ? Doesn't really matter since both stocked species are too short to keep.

Insiene Bait does 1/2 of his bait business is Buddhist buying bait and having
them scooped into the harbor.

Here is a video below at Marina del Rey of Larry (owner Insiene)
releasing bait for the Buddhist.

Praying Buddhists meet the In-Seine baitfish boat as it returns with its morning catch. The Buddhists buy half the haul and immediately release the fish in a ceremony that is thought to bring good luck and health.

Must see video.

Life Release

What is life release?

Life release, Life release is a Buddhist tradition of saving lives of animals that are destined to be killed. Although every life is precious, the fact of being alive inevitably causes taking lives of other beings. We cannot completely prevent this situation because as long as we walk, breath, eat, and so forth, we cause deaths of many creatures. However we can cultivate mindfulness, and try to reduce taking lives to the best of our ability. We can also offer a gift of life and protection through the practice of Life Release.

When releasing animals such as bait fish, insects, earthworms, please make sure that the species you are releasing are native to your location. For information about native species, please go to your local Environmental Protection Agency. List by state is provided here: http://www.epa.gov/epahome/state.htm

Note : Reverse Swastika on the Buddha.
Some American Indians use the symbol too.
Long before the WWII Nazis did.

Works for me. Everybody wins...the bait guy, the Buddhists and the bait!
