What was the length of this sucka?

I think it's long & big enough to wolf down a fairly sizeable guy such as yourself!!

That seal eating machine must have put up a heck of a fight!

Congrats!

Is that what you're hoping the shark will do to you when he's clamped down on your leg? Ha ha!!

Personally I don't know enough about Mako fishing to determine whether or not C&R is strongly recommended. (and I don't want to turn Booya's thread into that discussion either, out of courtesy.)

sansou... thanks for not trashing my thread.. as far as c&r i do think its very important and every one that knows me knows that i release 99% of my makos this is the first harvist of the year for me. the fish was 128 in. and at times it was alittle diciey in my 25ft. boat

Oneleg, you are aware that it is possible Mr. Booya may have a license to sell sportcaught fish to a qualified fish receiver (who in turn has to be in possession of a valid license to do so), aren't you?

KEWL...I saw the story on KTLA the day you guys brought her in. Nice to see that it was a FNN member that stuck her. You probably saved a few lifes also :thumb:

I don't know too much about these things but on KTLA they said that your mako qualified to be one of the top 4 fish taken here locally by a rod and reel!
Is that true?
They said it took something like 3 hours to land her!

booyaa 4u
08-30-2007, 09:36 PM
yes 4th biggest on rod and reel is what im told got a gaff in her in about 1 hour (not recommended) could be dangerous

If my knowledge serves me correctly, Makos are not prolific Seal-Hunters like White Sharks. Makos are fast because they hunt fast swimming fish like Mackrel and Tuna.

So if he did kjeep it, its not "Removing a seal killer" from the area.

Anywho, Nice catch man, that is a big sucker.

no i didnt know that O_L but what do you think all those ppl do that catch 150lbs of humbolt squid??? they either sell it.... or it gets frost bite in the back of the frigde because there sick of it by the 2nd week. what about those DORY boats off newport??? they sell fish at the fish market.
