So I went out to Legg lake again (Geez, that's 3 times this week!) to get out of the house and enjoy some time wetting a line. Stopped by Walmart to pick up some forceps (because I lost the brand new pair I bought on Monday!) some worms (large meal and wax worms) and I didn't know why at the time, but I also picked up a small jar of Berkley crappie nibbles.

I usually stay around the middle lake and today was no different. Started out halfway down the rock pier/walkway and saw a couple of big, dead panfish (a big 'gill with a third of it's body missing and a really big dried up crappie) The smell in that area was horrible, so I didn't stay there very long and I moved on. Got to the second spot and decided to bait up with a jumbo mealworm tipped with one of the crappie nibbles and fished it under a bobber around 10-15' out. I laid my pole down while I answered a text message, when I finished up, I looked into the water and thought 'where'd my bobber go?!' So I pick up my pole and sure enough, fish on! I start reeling in and can feel a little heft and see a good sized flash in the water so I figured it was a good sized red ear or bluegill. To my surprise I pull this guy out...

I was pretty psyched! My first crappie and I catch it at Legg lake! Made my day! Ended up catching around 6-7 small 'gills. This one being the biggest...

All in all, it ended up being a pretty good day! All fish were released to be caught again! Glad I picked up those crappie nibbles, it paid off in the end! Thanks for reading everyone!
Tight lines,
Alex

Thanks man! Yeah, it was cool to get my first one out there! I caught it in the same area where we were talking the other day too!

I thought the same thing white belt. You couldn't really see it in the pic but it had the spot on the gill plate like a red ear or 'gill. When I lipped it to take out the hook though its mouth was huge! I figured it had to be a crappie.

Thanks zenmic! Yup, middle lake. I've always liked that lake best for some reason, even when I was a kid!
