Fathers day on the Surf Loking,..

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there! I had an adventure today, got invited by Scott Noseworthy to come down to his spot in Newport for some surf fishing! Been a long time for me, finally got my Phenix custom rod built (later in the day it breaks), got some neoprene footing and a new Quantum Kinetic spinning reel to use on the surf, spooled it with 30# red power pro ;) Got to the spot at 6:30, looked around for some bait...nade. Scott and his son showed up, shook hands, thanked him for inviting then we started to fish! It was hot right away, got some nice ones on the gulp camo worms, even had a couple of runners that fought like hell then got bored and spit out the hook! Basterds! Scott was nailing some nice croakers and perch while his son was just killing it, his first time surf fishing...no wonder! LOL ,.. Later in the day it got slow so i busted out the LC to kick game up, hooked one nice decent slab after a few casts, not shabby but my biggest of the day,.. Called it a day early as we had stuff too do. He had to get ready for dana point and i had to do some more surf fishing,.. I headed down to Sunset for some grub at Taco Surf on PCH...as always the bomb! Then i walked around the corner to the beach, set up the carolina rig and its on like donkey kong! all the wall eye perch you want LOL WTF! I was hoping for some Spotfins as rumors were being said about them crusing the area, I would never know cause i couldn't shake these perch off. Called it a day there as I had to go to LB Mothers beach to chill with my family. Finally happy to see my girls but a heartbreak again happen to me that will just kill my day! When i got to mothers beach I tossed out some ghost shrimp with my Phenix Elixsr series rod, on the first cast it SNAPPED! Real bad, its a two piece so only the top part broke! Two pieces came off! I was so pissed, this was not happening...don't know how it broke, maybe i bent it in the car or it was already broken, maybe a defect rod? Not sure, just know its broken and it was not cheap!!! It's gonna be a headache to fix..aaarrrrgggghhhh!!!! While I was once again sitting down shaking my head in anger, my girls coming running over screaming Daddy! Big hugs from all three! and like that *snap* I totally forgot the rod broke, their smiles made my day sunny again! Guess this was just another one of God's messages! I rather have all my gear broken then for them to ever be hurt. The rod can be fixed or replaced, not my girls...I love them with all my heart. This is a fathers day I'll always remember,..

Nice report. Just take your Phenix Rod back to Phenix. Pay a reasonable fee and you'll get a brand new one. They have a great warranty.
