im thinking about hitting lake elsinore for catfish, never been before so any tips would be greatly appreciated. baits, location, rigs, etc. and do they allow night fishing?

The best bait to use at elsinoir is human feces and there are a lot of snags there so you need at least 300 lb braid and a 15/0 hook haha

I was just there so this is no joke. The best bait is shad (live or dead) catch the live ones in the morning in the marina or buy the dead ones from Williams bait and tackle. It's probably best to fish from a boat. The latest hot spot was the rock point with the dock next two it in the far southeast corner of the lake. The two fence lines that go in the water right below the rock point is also good right now. I would fish early morning if it was me, from shore people aren't swimming around yet and the bait is near the shoreline early. If your in a boat the winds are nice and calm then too.
