Team 57 - Catfish Co-op III @ Irvine Lake (8/11/12)

It's that time again folks! Bring your ears of corn and sack o' potatoes, the "Catfish Co-op III" is here! Also added to this years event will be a salsa contest! Lets compete to be the coveted "Catfish Co-op III Champion"! We'll also have the not so coveted "Skunk Award" so look out!

Invite your friends and family, this "official" Team 57 event is open to everyone! Come join us, Saturday August 11th, 2012 from 6am - 2am @ Irvine Lake! This is a great way to meet some new people and hang out with other anglers, so come out and enjoy an evening on the water with us!

There is no buy-in for the "Catfish Co-op III" and anyone can weigh-in a fish. Each contestant will be allowed to weigh-in their single largest blue or channel catfish. Last weigh-in time will be 1am. Around 1:15am we'll be giving away awards for "Big Fish Champion" & "Big Fish Runner-up". This event coincides with Irvine Lake's 3rd KOTC's qualifier, the "Mid Summer Nights Dream". We encourage everyone to enter this fun and exciting event. Please do not confuse these two events. If you enter the KOTC's qualifier make sure you weigh-in your fish on Irvine Lake's official scale by 1am. Your weight will be honored for the Co-op just make sure you save your fish. If you don't enter the KOTC's qualifier we will have a scale at the campsite to weigh-in your fish.

We'll start firing up the grills around 1pm. All entries for the salsa contest should be on the judging table by then. Voting for the salsa contest will end at 4pm. We'll be giving away awards for "Best Salsa" & "Best Salsa Runner-up" shortly after, followed by a huge raffle!

Big Daddy's Boat & Grill will be open for service at this event! That's right folks, Big Daddy will be cooking up some of his amazing fish taco plates. These taco plates will be all you can eat and will be available for a suggested donation of $5. Don't worry, if money's a little tight these days and you can't afford to donate everyone will still get a plate(s) of food. Likewise if you just got back from Vegas & hit the jackpot and you have a little extra you can donate after you buy your new Porche all donations will be accepted.

Besides the free general raffle we will also be holding a "Representing Team 57" raffle. All you have to do is wear your favorite Team 57 shirt or sweater to this event and you will receive one raffle ticket for this very special raffle. Furthermore for every Team 57 shirt or sweater you buy between now and the event you will receive three "Respresenting Team 57" raffle tickets.

The salsa competition will be a blind taste test. Each contestants entry will be assigned a random number. Voting will be open to everyone. Contestants MUST VOTE BUT ARE NOT ALLOWED TO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN ENTRY!. Each person will be given a ballot where they will write down the number that corresponds with the entry that they are voting for. Since this will be a blind taste test, if you plan on bringing salsa for the competition please simply add "SALSA!" to your name on the sign-up list below. This competition is open to any type of salsa.

If you don't plan on bringing salsa for the competition please bring something else to share (hamburgers, hotdogs, cookies, soda, water, etc...). Check the sign-up list and bring what you see fit. If you don't see an item on the list feel free to sign up for that item (Trolly's got the corn & potatoes covered!)

Please set a good example out there and show fellow anglers/lake staff what a classy group of people we have on this awesome website. If you plan on drinking please do so responsibly.

Well hell, if troutman ain't going, I ain't going

I have almost never fished for cats before so looking to split a boat with someone if there is anyone that has room. Also not sure what times you guys fish and what times you guys hang out and eat.

I could come out with the smoker and throw on a bunch of ribs also.

most of us show up around noon. the bbq and get to gether will happen around 3 or 4 and some of us will start fishing at 6am and only take a break for the get to gether and are back on the water as soon as that is done while most of us will hold off hitting the water untill about 7ish. as far as the boat goes all these people are really cool and really helpful and i can almost promiss you will not be left on the shore. ill make sure of that my self.

that would be awsome if you bring your smoker, i might be bringing mine.

but i would hold off on bringing your smoker or seting any of those times in stone just yet there are alot of things being worked on that are yet to to be decided. so just keep checking back for updates so you can make your plans lots of biggggg bigggg things in the works.

Thanks for the quick reply. Based on that schedule I don't think I would have time to cook my 3-2-1 ribs for 6 hours. What I could do is the 3-2 ahead of time and just finish them off on location with sauce for about an hour or so and get back to fishing. This way i'm only out of the water for for a few hours.

Is anyone looking to split a boat? I'll be sure to include a nice half rack of ribs!! PM me.

With the great group of people we have we always try our hardest to make sure everyone has a seat on a boat. There is no guarantee you will but we try. Also maybe try linking up with a couple other FNN'ers who don't have a spot on a boat and go in on a rental together and maybe make a new fishing buddy or two.
