Everything that anybody has ever told me at/about Seccombe Lake.

That one time the guy at the dock told me Orange PowerBait™ was the hot ticket, when in reality, it was the Chartreuse Glitter.

That, or the time time I was told of a hot crappie bite in upstate New York, and I drove up there just to find out they were saying it was a "crappy" bite.

I get bad advice all the time, from people telling me to tail-hook live crayfish, to people saying Bluegill are legal bait.

it gets even worse in saltwater.. people telling me that big hooks are no good, people getting mad at me for not using a size 6 baitholder.

Seems every saltwater angler i bump into in the harbor is a bigshot tuna angler that surprisingly doesn't know how to catch baybass.. hahaaa

PH levels should be a guide for PB color, DS.

To sit on the couch and ask or look for information instead of going fishing.

Indeed. This is proven. As well as the moon phase affecting what size treble hook to pair it with. Leader length should of course be determined by the prevailing wind speed multiplied by the amount of days that have past since the spawn, divided by 7.

I even installed it on my trout boat.

Some more...

1. "Fishing line is fishing line. Just get the cheap stuff."

Yeah, then I purchase some Vanish, and just like that, *poof*, all my fish VANISH when I set the hook.

2. "You can use a Palomar for any line, it's quick and easy to tie."

Till you realize that it cuts into itself, which is a death sentence to FC lines.

3. "Hooks are hooks...just get those Eagle Claws."

Then you're setting hooks, wondering why they aren't hooking into fish, or bending them out because they're P.O.S.

4. "You don't need a good rod to catch fish. Remember, 'it's not the wand, it's the magician.'"

Yeah, but a good rod makes it a lot easier to know what you're doing.

Also important to note dissolved oxygen content at the depth you are reading trouts. Moon phases don't matter as much, but relative humidity should be used to gauge hue of PB in a percentage of M in the CMYK formula of bait - directly inverse to one-half the percentage of relative humidity should be added in M to any PowerBait.

That formula has long been replaced with a calculation where the active chromosome number for the number of par markings is divided by 5.7593027192 to the fifth power. The resulting number minus 6 corresponds to the color number on the pantone scale that correlates with the most effective dough bait color. Or you can just use worms.

Oh, DS, that setup is nice, but I upgraded to this bad boy...

I installed sensors on my kayak that send live data to a command center. This includes, water temperature, barometric pressure, oxygen/co2 levels, pH readings, wind speed/current, and number of cormorants. The data is analysed several times per second and live updates are given for the appropriate bait color selection. It's always rainbow.
