I just got into it as well. Got hares ear and also adam's flies. When I went to legg the panfish were taking my mysis shrimp. That's a good start. Let me know if you find a good spot. I've been wanting to explore up there as well. If you just Google it or look on YouTube in the Comments, you can find the spots. Info all seems outdated though.

The farther you can walk into West Fork the better. Go past the second bridge at a minimum, this is the catch and release, barbless area; and has more and nicer grade fish.
Use small, size 18-22 nymphs and light-colored dries.
Good luck out there. Bring a bag to pick up the trash you will inevitably find out there, it's summer madness there already.

West Fork is good for native trout don't think it has pan fish in it. You will have to hike a few miles all up hill before it gets good, but worth it. Take a bicycle with you on the paved road and push it if it gets to steep to pedal , then you can just cruise on home all down hill to highway 39 after your adventure. Did it years ago and made it to the dam think it was about seven miles, have fun.

Go to Bass Pro and ask Joe in the Fly Shop what flies you need to get started. Also have him set you up with some leaders and tippet. He'll show you how to rig it and use it.

My "go to" nymphs in order:
1. flashback hare's ear size 14-18
2. red zebra midge 14-18
3. bird's nest 14-16
4. WD 40 18-22

Good luck, have fun!
