Posted below are the official catfish tournament rules.
Please read carefully as some of the rules/ hours have changed.

The Irvine Lake staff is looking forward to the return of our catfish tournament anglers and the
King of the Cats Kickoff!!!

The King of the Cats prize package is worth $5,000!!

Champions receive:
$1000 cash prize money
Summer season unlimited fishing pass
The coveted King of the Cats Custom Champions Jacket and trophy.

Previous Champions:
Chris "Trollmeister" Hagopian (2009)
Elaine "The Queen" Dickerhoof (2010)
Brandon "Team Woodward" Woodward (2011)

Here are the official Tournament rules:



IRVINELAKE CATFISH TOURNAMENT RULES
Contestants will be allowed to fish from shore or boat.
Tournament hours are from 6:00 a.m. until 1:00 a.m.
First weigh-in time will be at 1p.m. final weigh-in will be at 1:00 a.m.
Due to the extended tournament hours 2nd and 3rd limit fishing passes are permitted during catfish tournaments.
There is a 5 catfish limit per fishing pass.
You must purchase your 2nd limit fishing pass immediately after you catch your first limit.
If you are caught with more than your limit and you do not have a 2nd or 3rd limit fishing pass you will be disqualified.
Any Angler caught releasing will be disqualified.
NOEXCEPTIONS
Any angler caught fishing prior to 6 a.m.will be disqualified.
Campers may not occupy shoreline prior to 6 am.
Rods may not be set up on shoreline prior to 6:00 am.
Boats parked in rental slips may not leave dock prior to 6 a.m.
You will be allowed to weigh in (1) single largest catfish.
This includes channel & blue catfish.
2 rod maximum will be strictly enforced.
No live bait is permitted except for night crawlers, mealworms & wax worms.
Any fish intentionally foul hooked or snagged will be disqualified.
No Hook and Hand.
Contest ties are decided by order of weigh-in time.
No chumming, No snagging, No fishing on the launch ramp,
No fishing on the docks.
*LAGOON FISH DO NOT COUNT*
All contestants must be wearing a fishing sticker.
Once a catfish is certified by the weigh master it is considered an official catch.
You must have your tournament sheet at weigh-in.

Fast forward to Saturday afternoon to 2pm when I get off work......CANNOT WAIT!!!!!
