I always knew that little short I released would grow up to be a monster.

Nice Fish. That would be even more crazy to catch from the shore.

There is millions of Halibuts out there. No big deal.
Many die from C&R on LCs, guys take forever to take pics with a tape, remove slime ect. Run around trying to get someone to take a pic, finger in the gills, same with WSB.
Fish flopping around getting sugar coated. Many turn into Seal food.

What...it's legal. I'm getting tired of people complaining about when, how, where, and what to C&R. Just let people fish as long as they don't disrespect the environment and they follow the laws.

Great fish. without giving out an "secrets" would you mind sharing an area like Long beach, Dana, Catalina, Santa barbara, My wife and I are fishing a number of these locations for Halibut and we are curious. We lost a big one this weekend in the Dana Point area. Also some big Halibut have been showing up in San Francisco harbor. Congrats on a beautiful fish. Ohhhh don't be bothered by the question on what you are thinking. My wife and i would be planning a gigantic Halibut dinner for 34 of our family members if we bring in a 50 lb fish.......... God Bless.

it's good that you care though. That fish is enough to feed a whole neighborhood! I would throw a party just to serve that fish to everyone.

So... when are you sending the invite to all the FNNers about the big BBQ your about to have? I'd like to try some of that Hali-kabob I've seen. Been wanting to catch one so I could "try" and replicate the tasty recipe from this site and it's users.
Congrats on the CATCH! I'm sure it was a blast to bring er in.

JL: Those dropper loops are money with some feisty dines from Dana Point bait barge. Drift the structure and just outside the kelp over off of the point nw of dana harbor.... There are so m any healthy flatties out there....
