I'm sure you will get a bunch of different suggestions and opinions but here's my opinion...

Not sure how much your Dad is willing to spend but....

Super High End tube and Price:
OutCast Prowler (Around $560 ish)

High end:
Out Cast Super Fat Cat (Around $420 ish)
AMAGO float tube: (Around $515 ish w/nice fins and bag)

Moderate:
Out Cast Fish Cat 4 Deluxe LCS ($275 - $295 ish)

Lower Moderate:
ODC 420 Creek Company: ($130 to $250 ish) $250 is the MSRP but you could find them for $130 on ebay)
Outcast Fish Cat 4 ($250 ish)

not to thread jack but I have a fc4 for sale. Brand new with box, inflated once to check for leaks (has none).

It has a lot of room for storage in the pockets and behind the seat.

I've got a Colorado pontoon for sale that I haven't posted up yet. Only used once and like new with no leaks. I'm letting it go for only $300.

I Had a fish cat 4 but end up selling it to upgrade to a super fat cat. the fat cat has the inflatable seats and super big pockets!

if you just want the fc4 you can get the inflatable seats online for 40 or 50 bucks, but the fat cat is what i will be upgrading to...

Transportation is a big factor in sizing a float tube/pontoon.

FC4's are awesome, but larger compared to other U-style tubes. The deluxe model helps reduce this foot print and convience by changing the foam seats too inflatable ones. Pontoons can cover more water with speed, but are more difficult to maneuver in tight spaces. Similar issues with kayaks.

Remember to factor in costs for fins and waders for fall/winter time fishing.

I have a super fat cat and love it, but it is a little big and can be a challenge on windy days. If you get the fishcat I guarantee you, you will not be disappointed, awesome tube. Good luck to ya and have fun!
