surf fishing 101

hello all i am new to surf fishing and i am in need of some tips. for surf fishing what length of rod and test line would you recommend? Thanks

Hey "inthezone" welcome to FNN and I'm glad you're interested in surf fishing. I noticed all the views and zero relies. There's a sticky up above about surf fishing. It's very informative and full of helpful tips on gear and methods.

For beginners, a decent saltwater bass set-up would be plenty. For example I have a 7'6" pole rated at 10-20, a low pro reel with a 6.4:1 gear ratio, and 12# test mono is plenty for me for what I fishing for. Others
Others might tell you differently but to each their own.
