Does anybody know for sure if float tubes are also required to have the boating permit at Isabella?
Thanks!

I didnt think they were required for float tubes but I just called the Ranger Station at the lake. They said that most float tubes are not required to have a boat permit HOWEVER, ANYTHING over 7 1/2 foot long IS required to get a boat permit.

Ya, then you get to play that whole game about motors. If it has any type of propulsion...yes, even a trolling motor, it is supposed to be registered with a CF number and then you do have to buy a boat permit for that lake. Still, the anual pass is cheaper than some other places. If you will be using that float tube in other parts of Kern county...like in the Bako area Ming or Buena Vista...then get the permit that covers the whole county for $15 more.

NO REQUIRMENTS NO INSPECTION JUST 15 DOLLARS FOR DAYS OR 45 FOR ONE YEAR, aNY MARINA SELLS IT BUT THE SHELL STATION RIGHT AT THE LAKE ISABELA EXIT IS THE EASIST.

There are a couple requirements, you need to have your boat registration and ID, drivers license. If there is no line it might take you 5 minutes tops, very quick and painless. Also, the annual permit is for calender year so no matter when you buy them they still expire on December 31, its still the best deal out there.

If your coming in on the 178 off of the 14 you can also pick them up at Sierra Gateway Market in South Fork. This makes it nice if you plan on launching at the South Fork Marina launch ramp. BTW, the price will be the same no matter where you purchase them.

Thanks for checking Bassman Mike!
No motor, leg powered and 5ft. long
Glad I won't have to fork out the $15 per day or $45 for the annual pass
