Hey guys my yak didnt come with the flush kounts so i want to put some on. What angle rod holders do i put on? Since the position its mounted on is already angled im thinking 90 degrees? And i can drill the hole with a 1 1/4 drill bit and just use some marine goop to waterproof it and secure it on with stainless rivets right? Thanks.

Sounds like you know what to do man, only input I would add is this, depending on where you plan on putting the flush mounts ( assuming they will be behind you ) and if you are also planning on placing your rods there for trolling then remember to angle them away from the stern of your yak so when your line is in the water it isn't coming into contact with your yak. Also depending on the type of rod holders your get and from where you can get some rubber gaskets that usually work as caps for when they are not in use and the marine goop works great on that also.http://kayakfishinggear.com/seadogcapandgasketfortheflushmountangledrodholder. aspx http://kayakfishinggear.com/gasketforangledflushmountrodholder.aspx.

I would advise against installing the flush mount rod holders. On every kayak I've owned, I rarely use them. I recommend either a Scotty or Ram mount as they are adjustable. Think about it, what will you use them for? Rod holder, use some PVC pipe and strap to a crate. Trolling, use a Scotty or Ram rod holders. Troll with your rods in front and not behind you as they may impede your paddle stroke.

Are the gaskets really necassary if the bottom of the rod holders are sealed? I can always order the, on ebay two for 18$ with mounting hardware but are the gaskets even needed?

i know what you mean but i dont want to leave that empty space in the back im gonna make a bunch of rod holders for the bait tank and wont need the flush mounts, or i can leave the space clear and out on some waterproof speakers on there.

The gaskets are not needed just some suggestions of things that you could add. I agree with The Loan Fisherman since i to opted for RAM rod holders and no flush mounts, i defenitley like to be able to see my rods and line when trolling for fast hook sets and not missing bites.

I use these for my kayak mount. It is strong and you can use both bait cast and spinning reel.
You only have to drill a hole about one inch round to mount the flush mount also four screws and the pole holder is ready to go!
The pole holder rotates 360 degree and also up, down and has a strong lock . The six inch extension raises your rod so you can put a longer handle rod so it does not rub your yak. I have a flush mount with the gasket which I use for holding a second rod. But the Attwood does all the work. A decent set up but that is just my 2 cents.
