View Full Version : Question about Altimeters, and Sea Level?

I just got a Casio PAW5000-1 watch with a Compass, Barometer and Altimeter. I was up in Santa Monica Today in the surf, and I checked my Altimeter and it said 80ft. Should it be at 0 when I am on the sand? I guess I have the whole "sea level" thing in mind.
I know the altitude affects the barometer reading which is why I want it to be as accurate as possible, not hiking or mountain climbing or anything.

When I am at home in Downtown LA it reads about 420 in my apt.

Thanks for the help,
Lucas

Why do you need to be concerned about altitude ?
