haven't hit the sand in a while, so wanted to get out this am, but with all the recent reports of the salad-fest and bag-fest along SM/Bu, was expecting the worst this am... but to my pleasant surprise... the salad wasn't that bad this am :Big Grin:
off-colored water, medium waves with some surge/washing machine suds, and some salad pockets here and there, but very manageable... didn't snag any bags either
arrival shot at 6:30am:

nice and gloomy start:

started to work the incoming... had to work the beach to pick off a few average, cookie-cutter 6-8" perch this am on crack, and sandcrabs were pretty easy to find also:

nice to only have lip hooked perch today for the easy release...
towards the end... I put on a nice-sized sandcrab for my dad and a few minutes later, he's major BENDO with some drag-peeling... I'm hoping it's his 1st shovel :EyePop:
quick YouTube vid of the battle:

after about a 15 minute battle, I was able to tail it for him and taped him out to be 39".. woo hoo for pops!
here's a quick vid of him holding his shovel up!

not sure why he decided to wear that glove for the first time, but at least he got to make use of it today
and a couple quick pics for him:

he looks stoked

(yeah he really did hook it in the mouth... after I took the hook out of its mouth... it started to wiggle around and it got hooked again barely at the tail as we were trying to take pictures/vids....)
while all this was going on, my mom was getting some exercise walking around Will Rogers... and of course catching up on her newspaper...
afterwards, we decide to have a nice brunch at the Ocean Park Omelette Parlor in the patio.... hit the spot!

yeah so I think the salad/bags are on their way out hopefully... the conditions should be getting better...
thx for reading everyone!
