If you're looking to seriously get into fly fishing, especially in the trout waters that we have in the area, this is the combo for YOU.

LAMSON KONIC 1.5 - $90

The Lamson Konic I purchased for the New Year and has been used about a dozen times. It has some light scratches, but has been other than that, it is immaculate. It retails $129.00 (the price tag from Bob Marriot's is still on it) and with purchase, you get the box, paperwork, and cloth reel bag. Even though pictures show the reel spooled with backing and fly line, it is not included.

The Konic came recommended as the best entry level true mid-large arbor reel, that has a smooth conical drag, what Lamson/Waterworks reels are known for, and people were completely correct. The only reason I'm getting rid of this, is because I upgraded to a Litespeed (I got a good deal.) But, for the price point, the Konic is probably the best bang for your buck, rivaling the performance of $300 reels in reputable reviews. Retrieve is precise and smooth and handle direction can be reversed, directions included in box.

Reel diameter: 3.10"
Width: 1.00"
Weight: 4.40 oz
Rod Weight: 3, 4
Line: WF4
Backing Capacity: 100 yards, 12#

The reel is practically brand new. I'm asking $90.00

SAGE VANTAGE 490 - $175

The pair up the Konic, I'm selling a 4 weight SAGE Vantage, which is in excellent condition, used about a dozen times. Blank is immaculate, extremely light, has no scratches, and comes with a rod tube that shows minor wear. (thanks to hiking with it to certain spots.)

It is 9 feet, and has a medium fast action, which is an excellent taper for roll casting in tight quarters and single haul casts. Full casting is also not a problem with the rod, and because it is forgiving, you get the perfect feel when it loads up, which shortens your learning curve when you're learning how to cast, which is probably the most important aspect, and most frustrating part, in fly fishing.

It's a 4 piece rod, and retails for $225, and is made in the USA, in Brainbridge Island, Washington. It has a hard alloy stripping guide, hard chromed snake guides, and the reel seat is titanium anodized aluminum, which makes it saltwater safe, and has a lifetime warranty.

In a sentence, if you want to seriously start fly fishing for trout or smaller game in our local streams, creeks, and lakes, or go to the Sierras to fish the gems up there, this is a great starter rod that doesn't break the bank like other model rods out there.

I'm asking for $175 for the Vantage.

Hey DS. I would of gladly taken that konic off of your hands if you posted this morning. I ended up ordering another lamson guru 1.5 this afternoon for my new Scott A3 4WT I just bought. Good luck on your sale. This is a quality starter set up for a nice price!
