Need Freshwater Help for Tomorrow

So we mostly fish for salty bass along the coast, but lately I've been itching to try freshwater LMB.

Plan to hit DVL or Perris. What bait and technique can you guys recommend for a newbie?

Any special areas I should concentrate on working?

I think those are two time tested techniques that'll get people on fish.

The ole saying that you'll find 98% of the fish in 2% of the lake rings true for bass, simply because as predators, they relate to cover. Find cover and you'll usually find bass around. Sometimes, 'cover' won't be visible from the naked eye, such as trees, vegetation and what not, and they will be relating more to lake points. Once you find a spot where you have success, try to find similar spots and fish similar depths to nail down a pattern.
