I've been meaning to post this for a long time now. Earlier this year, I had a blast at Fairmount on the crappie. Prior to this trip, I'd caught a couple, but never more than a few on one trip. However, the water was just warming up on this trip and I guess the conditions were right. I was fishing from the shore in the main lake, trying out some bass jerkbaits and cranks. I kept getting hits from some chunky silver fish. Eventually, one hooked up and I spotted it-a small crappie! Sweet! Switched over to a micro jig/artificial worm setup and caught nearly a dozen small crappie, along with several chunky bluegill and green sunfish. I managed to get a few of them to pose for the camera and dance around on video, but I also caught many others that weren't so photogenic. They were all quite small (it's Fairmount) but still fun to run into a school of them at this lake. Please practice Catch 'n Release at this highly-pressured City Park Lake!
Enjoy!
