Made the trek up good ole 395 4am Saturday morning with my two boys and POM for our Sierra Opener... We knew this was gonna be a weekend jaunt but we've been jonesn for some action..... Got to the 1st spot on the Lower O and boy was she blowing.. the wind that is.... No love and headed a bit further up.... My son was the first to get on some action and it was a beauty to start the day... a solid 4, maybe 5lbr CPR'd.... kept venturing up 395 for a few small browns and bows..... keep in a mind a lot of these spots we fish are hit and miss and generally not stocked.... Get to the next spot and boy oh boy did we see a couple big ones... Persistence paid off and POM hooked up with a beaut!!!!.... Drag screaming, fish making runs up and down stream... and oh yeah, we left the net at the last spot, DOH!!!... My son takes off his shoes and socks, rolls up his sweats and gets in the water... after a lengthy battle my son wrestles this monster and comes up with it... a gorgeous 7lb bow, which I believe is a PB for POM.... After playing guide I wanted to get on some big fish action... getting close to sunset at one of my Bishop locations I finally hook-up.... drag screaming, fish making several jumps, and oh yeah... its a nice brownie!!! Get the fish to net and its a good 3lbr safely CPR'd.

Next day we went and checked out South Lake and Intake 2 for some solid action, but no kicker fish.... We caught more fish on Sunday but they were all cookie cutter bow's and browns with the largest going about 15 inches... As always it was good times getting on some brownie and bow action.... we also caught some 3-5lb carp... and saw this dead beaver that was hung on a post!!

Enjoy the pics (although these don't quite do em justice) POM has some real nice pics but need to be re-imaged because the file is too large.... We'll be fishing Crowley-Bridgeport Wed-Fri in hopes of getting a new PB!!! Tight Lines and Full Tails!!

Nice pics, and good fish. The critter on the fence is most likely a marmot. Ton's of them in the sierras, usually near wet areas.

Wow! That rainbow looks like a colorful version of Flipper. You probably could have ridden down the river on its back. Thanks for the report.

The one rainbow looks like a rainbow trout snake. If that thing had a belly it would've weighed 10 pounds.
Nice pics and fish. Great job.

FSHNLIC, Nice job getting the boys on some quality fish! Nice brown you nailed too! Love the pics man!
Heydaad, that ius more likely a muskrat as they are plentiful in the lowlands where the pic is taken. Marmots are only found in high elevations.

Yeah it was a good brownie...he actually caught her again a few days ago lol...waiting on pics for report.
and im with you greg, i don't think it was a marmot. ive seen one before in the kings canyon national park, on top of Alta Peak (way up in the high country)
