If there was a perfect lure for all species of freshwater gamefish, including Bluegill, it would have to be the Kastmaster-

Great colors on those things.

I think if I was stuck on a deserted island and could only have one lure, a Kastmaster would be it.

I've caught so many species on it, and it's a very versatile bait.

That is a beautiful gill..

Great looking fish. Fishing with lures my experience has been the more aggressive fish slam the lures and give a great fight.

Beautiful fish!

What's your preference on lure color?
Silver or gold or does it depend on water clarity?
Thanks!

My friend John, who uses them more than I do, likes the all chrome more than the gold. I would think that where fish feed on small shad, a silver color would be better than a gold. I'm sure the panfish would hit gold too though.

You said it, FishMounter. Also a really good lure to get kids started on.

Beautiful fish btw.

Of all the baits in my bag, the Kastmaster is the only one that has caught numerous species of gamefish. Like fishing plastics, I choose the color depending on the conditions. On bright sunny days, the chrome one is tough to beat. Early mornings and on overcast days, I seem to get more bites on the gold color. Love the colors on that 'gill.

They also love them some super duper being dragged behind my tube. They put up so good of a fight when caught w/ a lure.

Super Dupers do have a nice crazy zig-zag action. (Did I just say Zig-Zag? Seems vaguely familiar. Huh) Kelster, when you troll those behind your 'tube, do they twist your line? I see you are using just a snap.

When I was a kid I used Super Dupers on the end of Santa Monica Pier for bonita and mackerel. I would climb under the railing and stand on a wooden plank behind a piling. What fun!!
