Pyramid 4-30-12

Got to Pyramid at about 9am. Lines in by 9:30am. Managed to get 2 dink stripers by 3pm. Had hundreds of bites but they were just too little to swallow all the offerings I threw.
2 gentlemen next to me managed to get limits of catfish from 7am till 3pm on sardines. We were fishing the picnic area to the right of the sherrifs station. Baits I used were anchovies, chicken liver, nightcrawlers, blood worms, mackarel, hog wild, and some power bait.

The 2 mini stripers I got were caught on nightcrawlers and bloodworms...

The guys who were fishing right next to me who caught limits on catfish had an unbelievable stringer. The smallest cat they had was 6lbs! biggest about 11...I think they hit a nest or they were just grouping for spawning...

Yea they had a very long net but they were using heavy duty rods with like 10-15lb test lol. Cats are one of my fave fish to eat and I would have loved to catch one. I'm going to go back when the weather warms up a bit and test my luck again. Hopefully some of those bigger 2+lb stripers move up to the shallows of the channel as well...
