Went out today in the wind and rain.
Luckily had a band, as I had to bail out buckets of water before launching.
So much for the boat cover.
Threw plugs for a while but no interest from the fish at all.
Struggled to get one here and one there miles apart.
Then was trolling an area, no sign of life on the fish finder, when I got a solid hit.
Pulled real hard, took a long while to get any line back. Finally gained some line back and started the fish heading my way.
I remember a couple of similar fights last year where I lost the fish so I was very careful with this one.
Finally it was under the boat but still struggling hard and not in view even though the leader was visible already.
Then I saw color and up it popped to the surface. A nice DD.
As I tried to net it, it lunged away just as I lifted the net under it and I almost missed the scoop and snagged the hook on the net! But fortunately the fish balanced half in and half out on the frame of the net then tipped inwards and fell into the net.
Weighed at the marina at 10.43 lbs.
A lot of fun! Almost as much as the 25# a few weeks ago.
Here's a pic with the fish held waaay out so it looks huge!
