This will be a two part report. I had one more good session that started the streak so I thought I would share it with you all.

4/21/12
Headed out about 7:30 AM. Decided I was gonna hit my usual AO. I pulled into the parking spot and then pulled out again and decided to try a new spot this morning. I knew how to get there, but just never made the drive yet. Pulled up and was amazed by the scenery. It was perfect conditions this morning and I had Halibut on the brain. Had to to take a little hike and picked a spot and started fishing with the 3" Red Calico Hunter Big Hammer with a 3/8 oz lead head. Pro Cure Calico Cocktail applied.

http://www.tides4fishing.com/ <------ Here are the conditions if anyone was interested. After looking at the chart it really built my confidence for the morning. Medium salad today, but it was calm and no wind.

First cast I get nailed and it was fish on.

Alright pressure is off. Next cast get slammed again. Another Spottie.

Cast out again and get hit again this one was a little bigger.

Then I cast out again and get this one. She ended up spitting some crab at me, I refused.

Ok, so now I'm feeling really good and something just told me to switch to the Lucky Craft FM MS Chovy 110 SP. I do a quick retie and start casting out. First cast I toss right into the middle as the current was moving pretty strong. Start reeling it in and WHAM, It was time to start the fight. I knew she was a decent size when I felt those noticeable head shakes. Got wrapped up in some kelp on the way in but it was a clean landing.

It felt great and it seems this warmer weather is getting the fish more active. The Butt measured out at 20" and was a clean release as she swam away feisty.

Money shot taken by myself

Here is what it looked like after bringing it in.

another shot.

Since my line was pretty messed up from the battle I retied with a different LC color. Then I moved over to another rock and casted out and ended up with the wrong family member. Looks like to be his little sister.

This one was caught on the Aurora Baby Croaker LC 110 SP FM. Prolly around 13" no measure and quick release.

After that the salad got worse and every cast was salad. I'm glad I decided to try a new spot today that every one already knows about. LOL Almost got a 3rd Halibut as I saw her chase the LC but just missed striking it. It seems the fish are moving around more, this water is warming up slowly. Get out there and fish and have fun, It's perfect conditions with the grunion run and extra high tide. Good luck out there.

Lines Tight!

4/25/12 Quick Report

Went out after work to try to keep the streak going. I was fishing the 3" BH Sexy Smelt Pro Cure Calico Cocktail applied. Was able to get the skunk buster in about a half-hour. Threw the LC for nadda and left with a small smile on my face.

Conditions: Outgoing tide, sunny, little salad, sea was calm, not to much wind. Moderate current. Felt the tug and got the perfect hook set.
