View Full Version : Two 30+LB Blue Catfish landed today!!

So with our catfish bite starting up early (still trout season), local Catfisherman/Current Record Holder for Irvine Lake (89+) came in this morning and we chatted a few at the gate. Later the same morning he came up and said "I've got 2 big ones!..." Well that being said, here was the first of 2 big BLUE CATS weighing in over 30lbs!
The first one brought up raised eyebrows all around with this 32.6lb Blue Cat caught with fresh Mackeral near the Santiago Flats

The 2nd was an even BIGGER BLUE CATFISH, weighing in at 47.8lbs! Both hefty Blues were successfully released right after the photos were taken!

CHECKOUT the size of this, its almost as big as Ronson, WTG!

You still da' man.
I was out that day and couldn't pay a kittie to bite. Nobody wants to give up their spots. That's cool, I'll remember that in the future. What about that post on their website that said it was caught on fresh mack from the tackle shop? The tackle shop has never had fresh mack yet alone decent size mack. in several years. They are selling 2 tiny mack. for the price of one.
Time to get that "fresh" mack with the shrimp at asian market.

Thanks for the kind words fellas. Should be a good year. Those blues that were biting so great a few years ago seem to be back. Hopefully the water level will continue to drop. It should be great if it goes down another 15 feet by September. Wiskers crossed! ;-x
