April 16th 2012 Late Report

OK, Finally got off my lazy butt and got a little fishing time in. Seems I went into a winter hibernation mode
for the last couple months ... Lol

So its Monday the 16th - 1st stop Lee's Sandwiches for some hot coffee and a pork sandwich. Then its down
to the waters edge. I Felt a little rusty, but good to be out and enjoying some fresh air and get'n my feet wet.
Weather was over cast, but warm enough to take off the shirt, sport the swim trunks and work on a badly needed
tan ... Lol

Abu Garcia Revo Winch Reel
Lure used - 3in Big Hammer with 1/4 ounce lead head
Line - 12LB Izor
Location OC

Once I get down to the water I could see one of the local fly fishermen, whice is always a good sign. My tactics,
cast, cast and keep casting ... Lol

Now, let's get to the pic's ... I'll spare you the sexy sunburn pic's ... OUCH , I should of used some sunblock ... Lol

All short of that magical size, but great to get out. Also made a short stop in LB and came across some boiling
fish, turned out to be macks.

Late, late report from 3/13/12

Went down to the Bass hole in LB to see if anyone was home. Did get one Bass to beat the skunk , but the
water was cold and the wind was kick'n. Last year I did pretty good in this area on the Bass. So I have high hopes
for this spring, but only time will tell(fingers crossed).

All that sitting on the couch caused you to miss the epic bite Bones has had going this year already. Like the the TV commercial where the guy walks into the backyard and his buddies are BBQing and wonders whats going on. He was cooped up all winter and needed a burger. I think the Lee's worked well for you. 3 Halibut is a great start.
Now stay off the couch..:LOL:

Went down to the Bass hole this morning to see how things are coming along. Conditions looked good !
I stuck with the 3in BH and 1/4 to 3/8 ounce leadheads.

1st up was this small Hali - Then a nice size Sand Bass

Left that spot just before noon. And with lots of day light left I made a trip up to Castaic lagoon ... man was it hot up there !
Fished the east shore for a few hours and got the skunk ... :Sad:
Oh well, beats sitting on the couch on a beautiful Sunday afternoon ... Lol

Sweet! Clear-red flake has been doing REAL good lately. For years I could only get calicos to bite that pattern. But now spotties and halis are all over it!

Now thats what I call a succesful fishing trip! I have never landed anything on a swimbait before, and you make it look SO easy haha. Maybe its because the fish smelled Lee's on your fingers. Glad you made it out, thanks for the report

Same in Long Beach - cold, cloudy and wind. Castaic on the other hand was like a heatwave. Next time it's Castaic early
and the beach in the afternoon ... Lol

That color has been good, I've caught quite a few Halibut on it this year and now some Bass.

I luv the swimbaits, I've been fishing them for years on PB's and party boats for the 3B's and Tuna. Just takes a little practice to get the hang of it.
I wish I could just get the hang of fishing those LC's, I got a few of those sitting around collectig dust ... LOl
