**no major bendo action here... just cute kids havin fun**
well, after hearing about my recent successful trout expeditions with my dad... my wife's small church group asked me if I could setup a fishing trip for them a little while ago... primarily for the kids to have a good time
so after thinking about possible locations that would be great for the kids and for the adults/group to relax and enjoy the day... came up with Jackson lake... it's a nice small lake near Wrightwood not too far from the Valley... and with an easily accessible shoreline for the kids.. and of course it helped that they stocked this week. I remember my parents had a great time there last year and catchin their limits was not a problem!
anyhow, loaded up my car with several trout poles/gear/tackle and we meet up at 6:15am and start the 5 SUV caravan to Jackson lake... got to the lake around 7:45am. All of us got those 1-day Adventure passes and the adults who wanted to fish picked up their 1-day fishing licenses a few days ago. Nice and cool am to start with clear blue skies.. no wind.. and the water was surprisingly pretty clear. There was a decent weed/moss line about 15-20 feet from shore around parts of the lake. A few people were already there.

I was pretty busy the whole morning setting up lines... unhooking fish... trying to take pics/vids... but basically all the kids had a great time hooking a few fish. Used various powerbaits for them. Compared to last year... wow the stocked trout were small. I'm not sure why they even plant these baby trout at all  Had a few decent pan-sized trout as well in the mix.

Hmmm... didn't get a pic of Jeremy's first ever trout, but did get it on video... not bad for how little he is... but what makes me laugh is his total disregard for my $100 setup (Okuma SST trout rod with Shimano Sedona reel) after he lands his first trout :EyePop::EyePop:

I guess the bucket is more important
Being so busy.. had the Mrs. take a few pics back at the picnic tables:

we all cooked up some spicy ramen noodles when we first got there in the am... mmmm that felt and tasted good in the cold mountain air...
later for lunch had simple hotdog/hamburger fare on the BBQ grill there... I was so busy... only had a bite of a hotdog the Mrs. brought over to me

I was pretty surprised to see how many people showed up today... was kinda crowded by the afternoon... but everyone was pleasant and friendly. Got kinda warm up there by mid-day, but a gentle breeze helped cool things down a little.
the final haul for some of the church members to take home:

fish sticks anyone? at least there were a few in there that resembled the smallish trout they stock at Castaic
anyways, just wanted to share this memorable day that her church group and their kids had... I'm sure they won't forget it :Big Grin:
