Hey guys,

Need advice and/or pictures of where to mount a 2 bank charger I bought at Cabelas last weekend. I have two batteries, but they are seperate from each other (front and back of boat). Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Thanks!!

More information on your boat... or even pictures would be helpful.

I have mine mounted under the center console but the batteries are all close by in a separate compartment. How long is your boat and what size cable is on it for connections?

I would say... dry area... under deck/in storage locker with easy access to run cables or under steering console if you have the room. It's nice to be able to reach the cord to plug in without actually climbing into the boat.

You'll want to run the wires on starboard side with the rest of the wires/cables. Maybe on the inside left of the console, then loop the wires up into the steering wheel area and down the side to each battery.

You could always move the front battery to the back if there is room and have everything close together. The trolling motor would be easier to wire back (smaller wire) they running heavy charging wire all over.

Hopefully you'll find someone on here with the same boat that has already done this and save you some headache.

Good luck,
Rick

Thanks..the inital thoughts were: under steering column, deck nook, or trolling battery compartment I read mounting next to charging battery is not recommended?

"I read mounting next to charging battery is not recommended?"

I've always believed this to be true as well... My console has a forward compartment for batteries and I mounted the charger in the open area under controls.. on the floor. I made a false vented compartment so the thing could breath a little.

I missed the Post #3 description. Lol.
Put it under the dash so it stays dry.
Probably on the side up high underneath.
Do not mount it on carpet. Nice little Hybrid you got there.

Doesn't matter, just a safety precaution in case the battery fumes escaped could cause a fire.
2 to 6 amps will not get your battery boiling. I set my trickle right on top of the battery.
I charge every 60 to 90 days when not in use. Then the batteries (3) just sit.
3 1/2 years and those Die Hards are great with a 150 hp Johnson sitting in a slip at Terminal Island.
