So... I was in line at 5:45 and right at 6:00 they opened the gate and by 6:30 I launched at the end of the road in the flats... Not sure where the fish were but figured I could start there and make my way over to the West Shore... I meandered over that way and by 9:30 was sitting off the west shore waiting my turn to catch some fish... LOTS of action over there on Power Bait.... Once a few boats left I was able to get into a good spot and landed my first of 3 fish... This was around 11:00

Then about a half hour later I decided to try to use a Berkley worm with a dab of Power Bait... I think this has a name but not too sure what you'd call it... First cast and I missed the bite... second cast and landed fish #2... He was a drag peelin'... deep diving fish... Fought so hard his tail fell off!

I had to leave by 1:00 to get back to Covina to pick up my mom's car so that I could get down to San Diego to see my brother in the hospital after he had been having some procedures done so that my other brother could get back to his family in Northridge and I could drive my mom around in and then drive her back to Covina on Friday so I could get back to Arroyo Grande before Saturday morning to take my son to volleyball practice ... whew.... so at 12:00 I started to kick back to my truck at the end of the flats... took about 45 minutes of kicking.... During that time I was trolling a Thomas Buoyant on the surface and a jointed Rapala FireTiger on my leadcore pole at about 4 1/2 colors when about middle of the flats I got a trout hit the leadcore... but I lost that one... Then I kicked over some more fish and landed one on that set up.

Then as soon as I get back to the bait shop the Calaveras truck showed up... man I wanted to be in the water at that point to finish my limit but I had to get going.....
so i threw the trout on ice and headed back to do my marathon driving trip....

But I did manage to make it onto the stocking video at the 5:55 mark....

Later... Hopefully I'll be back next year for a FULL day trip.
