Part of my family and I arrived on 8/3 set up camp and the weather was great.

The plan was to fish Robinson and other local creeks during the day and the inlet and other lakes during the evening. I like to sleep in so no morning action for me. I also wanted to hook a large fish with my fly rod this year since I mostly throw a fly/bubble combo in the evening. Well I fished Robinson creek in the campground either from the middle bridge on up or down couple days a week and managed to pull out a bunch of browns and brookies throwing Adams, Hoppers, Caddis flys. All 6-8 inches and occassional 10 in. and some Rainbow. All C&R

Also came across many of these while fishing the creek.

Taking my dog out for a walk every morning there was always something to see, especially bear damage.

Took my niece and nephew out for some evening fishing every night. Throwing gulp eggs by the inlet they caught some stockers for dinner and a suprise fish that we released.

Sometimes an afternoon nap was in order

My first part of family left on the 10th and the second part was comming the next day. This gave me a chance to fish the inlet. My previous nights I only spent a hour or so throwing Copperjohns and woolybuggers for some nice fish. Where we waded out sometimes was crowded so I started flyfishing a different area on this day. After not catching a fish for about an hour I took a peek over at the inlet about 20 yards behind were the guys have waded out and about 5 yards from shore. I see a fish jump, hmm. Then I see a tail, hmm. What the hell I haven't caught a fish in an hour this will be like fishing a creek with a drift and all. So I walk over there and see this shadow in about two feet of water. I stand back and watch. I see it roll a couple times and then toss a olive woolybugger upstream a little. The fish didn't like my offering and disappeared, Damn. I stood there for a couple seconds and it came back. This time I tied on a black gnat and on my second cast as I have a great drift going this big head comes out of the water and inhales my fly. It was like slow motion. The fight lasted about 10 minutes. Tried to net him twice and the fish wouldn't fit in the net. Finally I just tossd him up on shore with two hands.

It weighed in at 5.75 lbs
Well the other part of my company arrived. My niece (second from left) and her boyfriend and my nephew (far right) and his girlfriend. These two have been comming up here for 15 years in a row with me.

The water level has dropped 1 to 2 feet per day during the week so wading out only required you to stand in ankle deep water were you were thigh high earlier in the week. Every night we either float tubed or waded out and we caught a ton of fish throwing olive or brown woolybuggers that I tied. I hate cleaning fish so it was all C&R except for 10 stockers to bring home for friends. My nephew's girlfriend even caught a 4 lbs.

All in all another great vacation and as my dad would say when he would take us up there when we were kids "If your not having fun, It's your fault".

tpfishnfool,
The dog was a rescue about three years ago I believe he is a dalmation/great dane mix. He has been on a couple 3 day backpacking trips with me. Great dog.

One_leg,
Yeah the forky tail just added some unique character to the fish. It still was a hell of a fight on the fly rod.
