Headed up to SB mountains for some Tenkara action on the SA river. Its been more than 8 years since my last visit. Probably the most challenging area around due to the growth of trees that overhang most of the water. Lost lots of flys but caught some browns and rainbows.

First hook fish was a nice rainbow … sorry no pics (quick release)

Move down stream and hooked a very aggressive BROWN as I was dragging (Skiing) the newly tied Tenkara Pattern fly.

Now I think I know the pattern and presentation I hooked another Brown very quickly few yards down stream.

Headed up the road to find new waters and shot some pics of my fishing companion.

Sceloporous occidentalis …. Aka Western Fence Lizard .. he had his eye on my fly.

Trail Head I took and got 1 more rainbow to rise but no hook up.

Good stuff. Most of the tree branches along that stretch have tons of flies stuck in them. Not gonna lie, some of mine are still hanging up.

An 11'6" rod in those tangles must have been a PITA to manage. That fly pattern you used closely resembles hellgrammites I've seen in the Santa Ana and its tributaries over the years--the color is EXACT. If that's a #16, you about have them matched up.
