What can I say about this boat? Well it gets the job done and I'll leave it at that.
My original plan was to head down to KH and board the Tradition for some rockfishing, but no one would pick up at the office. Why was that Jimmy? Anyways, no big deal right? Right! That's why there is always plan B. In this case plan B was the Victory as it had some "decent" cod counts. Okay then, enough of my whining let's get down to my "EXCITING" report!
~AM~
500- Arrive at Shoreline with my cousin
515- Spent 15 minutes looking for an alternative route as Aquarium Way was blocked off for whatever reason
520- Waited for the sportfishing office office
535- Bought our tickets and some heavy lead as the cook/deckhand warned us about some snotty current
(he wasn't that spot on about the current as I got away with a 6oz sinker for most of the day)
600- Waiting to leave!
645- Now we leave! NICE!!! (the boat was supposed to leave the harbor at 6, but the capt. made up for it by having us fish until 4)
800- Arrived at our first spot, and I think it was horseshoe kelp
800-930- fished the first spot for the boat's limit of bocs. My cousin limited on his first drop and took a sea sickness siesta shortly after.
930-1030- Next spot, this next stop produced a few reds, MORE BOCS! (they're not endangered, there's just no way, I mean a female lays 1.5 million eggs each time!),
and sand dabs
1030-12- Next spot, again MORE BOCS!, MORE SAND DABS!!!!
~PM~
12-2- Next spot, MORE bocs and dabs, and there were a few reds, flags, starries, and chillis. Oh, and about 3 wolf eels came flying over the rail.
At this stop I produced a nice scully, a boc, and a dozen sand dabs.
2-230- I forgot what we caught at this next move but it was probably more sand dabs and bocs lol!
300-400- Okay, at this last spot was where a lot of the nicer fish came over the rail. If I recall correctly a 10lb boc was landed, several whitefish, a sheephead,
some chuckleheads, and a few nice reds were railed.
500- Now we're back at the landing.
For the most part I enjoyed the trip as I was able to fish with a Curado 300E, 6oz of lead, and my Phenix PSW 807ML throughout most of the day.
My tally: triple limits of bocs, a piss poor size whitefish, a 2lb chucklehead, a fat scully, several dozen sand dabs, and many small misc. rockfish and I do mean small!
My cousin's tally: 2 bocs with a size of motion sickness!
LOOK JapanRon! Plastics ONLY! It's close enough though. Here's the scoop with this photo. For this boc I had rigged on a strip of squid with this 3" chartruse PLASTIC grub. As soon as my rig hit the bottom I quickly had my bait stripped off and how I knew this was because the flurry of bites ceased in an instant. So, I responded by slowly reeling up and as I was doing this my rigged was slammed by this boc.

Some fun with the seagulls.

Okay, with this photo I actually ate everything you see here. Yes I did take home 7 SMALL rockfish for dinner! Let's just say that there were a lot of bones to deal with but I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. haha
I hope you enjoyed reading my bombshell of my report as much as I enjoyed writing it.
