Now, after re-reading the story, it seems he used a fake badge as 'ID' when he passed the check.

Now, who's fault is THAT?

That's like accepting my bus pass as ID.

I guess he exploited the fact that people see a badge and immediately assume the person is not fraudulent. I wouldn't accept a check from Jesus unless he provided 2 forms of real ID.
