DANA POINT - A man who used a fake name and law enforcement badge to buy more than $2,900 in fishing rods at a Dana Point store was at large today.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department released a sketch of the suspect, who is described as a white man in his 30s, about 5-foot-11 and weighing around 210 pounds.

The man went to the Jig Shop, 34186 Pacific Coast Highway, about noon Sunday and spent two hours shopping before settling on four rods and four reels at a cost of $2,917.86, according to the Sheriff's Department.

The man wrote a check using bogus identification and showed the clerk a star-shaped badge, claiming he was a deputy sheriff from Mission Viejo, according to authorities.
