Taking the bro out wednesday afternoon. Going to rent a boat. I have never been to this lake. I fish mainly at Canyon Lake and occasionally Perris.

I have read that the striper bite is rough but we are gonna try for them anyways, as well as LMB. THis would also be my third time on a fishing boat so Im pretty green when it comes to that (i usually just shore fish everywhere). Could anyone give me some good pointers to get us on some fish? Im bringing some Big Hammer swimmies for the striper and a vast array of stuff for the LMB. Not sure what colors work best at this lake. Also, are the fish pretty line shy? I have top shots of 6lb and 8lb Fluro.

Any advice is welcome! thanks

With the weather warming up the fish should be all shallow with the spawn. Fish the sandy banks............for striper, you have to go a little deeper. FIsh anywhere between 30-80 feet for the striper. Just depends on the day. Good luck!

Ya didnt know about the reserve thing. Showed up at 1:30, no boats. Decided not to wait in line so we headed for the shore. Landed a decent one after about an hour when I switched to a robo mm, then one about 20 feet down two minutes later. No mas luck. My brother didnt get anything. Beautiful lake though. Cant wait to get a boat out there, definitely seems like its a productive lake.

Nice job from shore. Just think, where you are standing was under water last month.

ya thats crazy. I was reading that a lot of people are saying lower water levels are better for fishing here.

Doesnt seem to be the same over at canyon lake. The water level is super low and its killing the fishing.

I seriously need a boat. Do you work for DVL? I want to find where they buy their rentals, thats the exact boat I need ( the jon boats with console drive n' such)

Look on CL...there's some good deals if you're patient and look, especially during the off season.
