I heard from an older friend of mine about an even older gentleman at castaic using stocker trout at night for trophy sized stripers. I wouldn't since apparently (pure hearsay) this old man caught time for being caught (more than one time though).....still very interesting....

I dont get it, if the trout had a treble hook in his nose how would you be able to catch a bass with a little treble hook? I was thinking someone hooked up a trout and a bass came and tried to eat it and broke off the trout.

Hey, that's the same excuse people gave me when I wandered onto them on shore trying to use live trout for bait.
Kinda hard to make PowerBait™ float with a 2/0 treble hook, tho.
I've posted this before but regular out at Silverwood fishes nights in a kayak, everybody knows he's using live trout and also chunks of trout including the rangers, but they have to catch the basstard!

Theres a guy @ perris who was chucking live trout... and catching the stockers and throwing them on shore.. He also was bragging about him getting caught up by kyle night fishing DVL not to long ago.. 3 dude got busted and he was still up to no good... some ppl just never learn

Feel bad for them that they can't catch fish legally.
Go ahead and use live trout for all I care. Pansies.
To be honest I probably get just as much action on the surface with a piece of wood as they do soaking illegal bait.
Either way you still have to be sitting on top of hungry fish to get bit.
