Took the kids down to the local pond with ultral lite poles with 2lb test,
fished with pieces of nightcrawlers. Bluegill were biting off the hook, with some
up to a pound which is rare for this pond.

Half the fish looked like regular bluegills, the other half looked like the pic I have below,
just wondering if these are bluegills or not

That's a green sunfish. Notice the larger mouth on it, unusual for most sunfish (bluegill, pumpkinseed, etc). Very fun to catch, they can get fairly hefty.

Menifee, part of housing tract for residence, its in my backyard catch and release only

sodapop- In some places they can grow very large... (This is not a hybrid)
