Went to Perris today to try and get a nice LMB before spring break ends. Got there just after 10, and left by 2. Started off with kast masters with my girlfriend and we got a few small trout by the marina. Went onto the docks to try and get some bass since she was having a hard time casting around the brush from shore. Lost quite a few fish, and one that felt like a hog. Finally was able to hook a decent bass, and let my girlfriend get it all the way to the dock. Snapped a pic and let her go to lay her eggs. A bit later I got hit again on the bass rig, and was suprised to pull up a nice sized trout (the others were all under a pound). Wanted to let it go, but it started bleeding pretty bad so I gave it away. Pretty good day; bass seemed very active and were chasing shad which was cool to see. Girlfriend had fun catching a bunch of stalkers and reeling in the bass. Sorry if the pics are hard to see, had to use my cell phone and the people taking the pictures kept putting there fingers in front of the lens.

All the fish wanted were shad; I tried roboworms and crawdad imitations for nothing. When they want shad, it seems like they won't hit anything else. The only plastic that worked was a "magic shad" that I usually use for salt water. Sometimes the shad would follow it and get snagged on it and you could reel it slowly and the bass would hit it. The marina wasn't very crowded and the fish were very aggressive. I didn't see any males caught, all fat females that people sadly kept before they could lay their eggs. Most of the people were snagging shad any fly lining them which was like candy for the fish.

I don't really know how to fish Perris, just got lucky I suppose. I'm not sure I'm the guy to seek advice from ha. You'll get them next time though man.

I saw a guy come into the marina with a bunch of red ear, did you catch those over by the island? No one was really catching any by the docks, but I hear there's a hot spot by the island and the fish are pretty good sized. I'd like to get a few of those on my fly rod...
