Big Bear Lake 3-28/3-29 OMG What a week.

Im not gonna go all into the deep details of this report just gonna keep it simple & lots of pics. 2hrs on the 28th on the norths shore just east of the damn. on both pb & crawlers. Then today 11-3 pm 15 landed,6 farmed(saw em & or stole my hook & or wrapped me around a pine cone) & missed another 6plus. Anyway here are pics if anyone cares to know more PM me.
Today was my last day of medical hooky & I used it to the fullest. Still feeling a bit crappy but landing 15 trout in 4 hours helped a lot. None stop action from 11-3 landed the 15, farmed 6(saw them in the water), & lost missed at least 6.

I don't think there are any better looking trout than in Big bear. They are usually pretty feisty too. I 'll be in the May Trout Classic again this year. I took 3rd one year.

well that convinced me to go up there this weekend instead of jenks. I see the lake was stocked on the 25th so if weather hold it should be a good day on sunday. since me and my buddies want to bring our tubes do we need to get them inspected or are we good to go and launch somewhere by the dam or where ever we can?
trout may classic? I may hit that up, I did the 50k tournament last 2 years and last year and my daughter won her class.

The pelicans seem to be eating the stockers because I havent got one yet. The lake opens the 1st so you should be good until it opens with out inspection. Etaggert is the one to ask about the tubes & the water is still pretty chilly. I just got back from Juniper for a hour & got a couple 14"-16" for dinner. My roommate wasnt happy seeing me fillet a live trout for her dinner but the taste always wins out. Good Luck everyone.

Nice looking fish Cameron. The BB winter fish always look well fed. Kinda of like mini Crowley Lakers.

Whenever I get back up that way I 'll PM you again and see if we can't hook up. Last year just didn't work out.

Sounds Good Bill I just brewed up 3 beers a american ipa, citra pale ale, & a sweet stout. Should be ready in about 3 weeks.
I had a couple flatlanders creep next to my kids & cast over them today. My kids where trying to jig for some prespawners by boulder bridge when these what appeared to be semi-intelligent guys walk over & look down at the water from above. No big deal Right ? Then one of them just hops down walk up behind my kids who are trapped at this point on the frozen ledge & casted right next to my daughter.......................................... ...........................................Im sure you all know what I was thinking at this point but I'll save it & say I told em as I packed up my kids & took em home.... I did say I was gonna grab a few big local boys like myself & come back & explain "PROPER FISHING ETIQUETTE!" DID I OVER REACT ?

In this report I was just west of windy point & east of SS relief. The dam is my last stop & I hardly ever fish there.

Is bait really necessary to catch those spawning trout........try some jigs bud.

i dont see why u would use bait when u know theres a chance of them swallowing it, unless u wanted to take some home for dinner...not cool during this time,,,,,,,,,quit blocking and let them do their thing!!!

Tired from whaat!? cause you get up sooo early for the lonnng drive you have to make to the lake lol you live right ON the lake , get a clue! ...an were the "CityIdiots!" lmao

LMAO I luv when someone uses bait some fools jump on & try to put it down,,,,,Why? Its a stocked lake & really has no real NATIVES to speak of & could never support a thriving or any real NATIVE trout. A lot of fish swallow the hook & I release them as soon as the recover.
Now I use a size 18 hook you ever scene one ? pretty darn small & if I cant remove it hooks are cheap & dissolve plus I only use enough bait to cover the hook making my bait smaller than your said jig.. But thanks for assuming & trying to say my way is wrong & yours is right.....Plus those fish ARENT SPAWNING YET,,, just prespawn but thanks for being one of only 2 tools in this thread.....95% of FNN'ers understand as you can see you fall into the 5%, maybe you should get a 5% patch sewn on your fisherman hat.

Could go on & on I also must say that this is not the norm 95% of visitors are all cool once again its that lil 5% that blows it.
