It all started when people on this board were saying that SP Dan had gotten, “ My Mojo “. :Smile:
It had been a few weeks and I hadn’t caught any WSB.
In fact the last time was when I was with SP Dan and he caught 3 in 1 day, a very nice outing. :Wink:
On Monday Jaysuuun text me and asked if I wanted to hit it up on Tuesday. I informed him I had to work and that I couldn’t make it. :Sad:
With that invite it started a fire under my “butt”. :Twisted:
So, on Tuesday night, I decided to go look for, “ My Mojo “. :Secret:
I arrived at my first destination at ½ an hour before noon.
The high tide was around 2:30, at 2.84 ft.
The low tide was at 5:44 and was 2.34 ft.
The swells were to be 1-3 feet, manageable.
Water at 1st destination was crystal clear with a 50/50 salad retrieve.
The second place was murky with little salad.
Water temps at both locations were around 56-57 degrees.
My rod was a Clarus, 7’6”, paired with my Saros 2500. I put on new 10# P-Line the night before.
My afternoon started off slow, I would work my way South and then back North.
I planned on leaving the first destination at 3:30, and that’s what I did.
It would be 2 hours before I got my first hook-up. I guess, “ My Mojo “ wouldn’t be found here; :Neutral:

It was a weird looking Halibut that taped out at just over 22”. :Confused:
When I saw the tail it looked like it belonged on a fish at least 25“-26” and the thickness was unusually large also.
I let it go and continued to look for, “ My Mojo “. :whistle:
I continued fishing for the last 2 hours and did not get another bite.
Oh well, maybe, “ My Mojo “ would be at my next destination.
As I was leaving, I met a young man who was asking me about everything there is to know about surf fishing. He said he was a bait and wait guy and wanted to learn. So I spent about 45 minutes giving him a tutorial.
The thing he was most fascinated with was structure identification. So we spent the most time with that. Afterwards I said, adios, and headed where I last had, “ My Mojo “.
I arrived just before 5:00 and things looked really mellow. :Smile:
I knew my window was small so I enacted the help of these guys to help find, “ My Mojo”; :EyePop:

(This is an old picture and they were looking for illegals, by way of pangas.)
I started casting at my usual spot and it would be half an hour before I got my first hit;

A shorty about 20”, but it put up a good little fight. I had loosened my drag a little more than usual.
I put it back in the water, cast 2 more times and got this little booger;
http://i977.photobucket.com/albums/ae255/gudgersfishing/Mobile%20Uploads/image-146.jpg
I estimated it to be around 15-16”.
Things were looking good and I had a feeling I was going to find, “ My Mojo “ back where I last had it…:Wink:
After I let shorty go it wasn’t long before I got hit again. It felt like a, “Thump” so I started reeling in and brought this guy to shore;

I FOUND MY MOJO!!!! :Dancing Banana::Dancing Banana:
It was a WSB around 24”. It made a couple of top water splashes and also peeled line a couple of times.
After that fish I was very satisfied and happy that, “ My Mojo “ was intact and not abused in any way by my Brotha, SP Dan. :Beer Toast:
I put it back in the water and decided to re-do the knot on my LC. By the way, it was a custom Barred Surf Perch, modified to a Zebra Perch.
I started casting and within minutes was hooked up again. This was a bigger model with some terrible head shakes. It went left, it went right, it peeled line 3 times but it was all for naught. It ended up on the beach like it’s predecessor;
http://i977.photobucket.com/albums/ae255/gudgersfishing/Mobile%20Uploads/image-144.jpg
I had to get the tape cause it looked like it was a keeper. But alas, it measured out at 27”. :Crying:
Something happened that I did not expect to see, it spit up 3 squid ( they got washed away before I could get a picture).
This WSB was really fat and if I had to guess, I would say it was almost 10 pounds!? :Shocked:
WOW, I knew I had found, “ My Mojo “ but 2 WSB in one session…Awesome! :Thumbs Up:
I guess I was being Blessed for letting the legal flatty go.
After I threw him back into the water, I checked my line for kinks or abrasions and everything was good. It was getting close to the sun hitting the horizon so I told myself just a few more casts.
It would be my last cast of the evening and was I rewarded with my 3rd WSB of the day; :Not Worthy:

It was a shorty, at 20”, but it put up a hell of a fight. This guy did not want to come in, he fought longer than the other 2 combined. With my drag a little looser he ran 5 times, top splashed4 times and even when he was on the beach would not sit still for almost 3 minutes…WHEW!?!
Well, after I released him back to the water I looked over to the sun and it was sitting on the horizon now;

I thanked The Lord for a great afternoon and also for helping me find, “ My Mojo “.
Take Care All & God Bless!
