The trout at Upper Kern river are biting. Expect bites all day long and well into night fall. The fish seem to be in the deeper pools along the banks. They are biting Salmon Eggs, Power Bait, And Crickets as I was just there yesterday 3-26-12. Easy limit style action on salmon egg hooks with 3 salmon eggs, or 1 cricket on it with a split-shot heavy enough to drift the offering downstream slowly. Fish are very smart and you must try setting the hook at first bite. Also, power bait on size 16-18 treble hooks seemed to work well too. Expect to loose a lot of hooks, weights, and line so bring extras. All fish ranging from 1/2-2 1/2lbs. Fish were not line shy as we were using 6lb test. Fish the deep, slow moving water along the banks.
