Catfish parasites?

Hey Viners,
I've been encountering what appear to be parasites or leaches (about the size of a grain of rice) around the bottom of the mouth/gill area on alot of the kitties I've seen lately. Never seen them b4. I'm thinking they maybe common with fish that have been on the bottom of the lake for awhile. Any ideas?

This seems to be a common occurrence around southern California for the holder overs in just about every lake. Many reports I've read have said there are leech like parasites on the kitties. I wonder whats going on.

They are just some leeches. No big harm to the fish or you.

Grew up with a catfish pond in my backyard a good size pond as well we would sometime see this too nothing that harmful tho

That's what I thought. I haven't seen them here except for the last couple weeks.
I'm on them (kitties) again in the morn.
