Some pics of my Chinese Tenkara Rods. Tenkara USA rods all have cork handles and balanced for easier casting. The Chinese rods feel more tip heavy but still get the job done. I paid 32 dollars for all 3. They were shipped from Hong Kong off the website UXCELL.com.

Hrm. I've seen these rods at one of the asian tackle stores I frequent, but i've never asked about them. For the first year ever, i might be leaving my UL rod at home for my yearly barrett trips. Considering these things collapse down to 20 inches and the low cost i might be able to squeeze one in! How are they fished?

TDG ive seen these over here at garden grove tackle, the owner demonstrated how they work and their whole rig, its pretty cool huh, he says he catches carp all day with that rod, and no reel is pretty crazy just bring the fish up to you

if anyone wants to buy one, Gardn Grove fishing and tackle has a HUGE selection of them

This type of fishing can be a wrist buster. Hello arthritis! I can't lie though I've fished with this kind of set-up at DVL before for bluegills and the fight was just awesome.

Hard to beat $32 for 3 rods. If ordering from a domestic retailer, what do you think about these rods from a company in Michigan? Comes in sizes 11' to 13' and priced from $40 to $80 plus $8.50 shipping per order. The rods have cork handles.

These definitely would have a balanced feel to them. I notice when I fish the non cork handle rods in small streams and lots of brush and trees overhead it really does not matter how balanced the rod feels. But if you are doing more trad Tenkara style casting then i think the balanced rod would be better. I have fished both styles now and Im getting more efficient with the non corked handle rods. Check out Tenkara USA vids on youtube on the casting method. So far most Tenkara vids i see are in open conditions.
