8/16 Domes, Barn, Dana

Launched out of Dana at 6:00am with my cousin Aaron. Didn't beat the fleet, so we waited. Paid off cuz they had some awsome baits, 1/2 scoop of large sardines and we were off to the domes. Flew fast the fleet and we were slow trolling dines and Rapala's by 6:40. Baits got ripped with in 5 mins but came unbottoned, looked down and there were deep kelps. Fished in about 40 ft rockey bottom and the calico bite picked up. We were constanly being picked up by short cuda and big macs. Got tired of the bass bite so we moved down to Barn Kelp. Picked up a few sandies, more calico, and short cuda. The bite slowed at around noon, took a quick dip (the waters friggin warm!) and headed back to dana trolling raps. Picked up 2 short Bonitas near some large bait boils.

Fish total: lots of calico's, only 3 keepers
3 sand bass
Lots of short cuda , all releast
2 bonita

It was more of an exploration trip for us, first time fishing that area. We'll be back soon!

Hi emwhyr0hen,

Nice report and pics. Sounds like a great, laid-back kinda day!!

What's with all the short cuda!? Noticed more and more of them! I hope that's a good sign for the fisery!
