Thanks .. i did alright even though i showed up to the lake late , That wont happen again
I showed up to the lake at 9am and was in the water by 9:05 about 10 mins in i get a bite on a nightcrawler but it comes off /: but for some reason when i get bit on a nightcrawler the trout seem to shake off the hook idk if the hook is too small or what am i doing wrong lol.. so i just went to my go to bait spring green powerbait my favorite and they seemed to like it .. it was bite after bite until like 1pm it completely died off ended the day with 5 sierrabows .. i will never show up to the lake late again :(

hey rex,
good to hear you got em

Unless the hook broke, I don't think you can ever go "too small" of a hook. I use a size 10 or 12 mosquito. REAL small hooks

It's true. I fish 'crawlers on #10 Owner Mosquitos almost exclusively, except when I'm fishing mealworms on size 14's. I almost never miss a hookset. Fish the bail open from a boat or tube, or with an indicator on the line between the reel and the first guide when shorelining it. You'll know when you're bit. Well, you should anyway. Let the fish run for a five count, just like an albacore on a hot 'chovy, let the line come tight and then set the hook. Don't try for a lip-hook because you probably won't get one. When you fish bait you should be fishing for meat, not C&R.
