I actually almost bought one of these rods recently for the surf before deciding on something else. They are actually pretty nice rods. The guy told me that they imported them from japan and that they are pretty big over there. Not sure if that's true but that's what he said. The model that I held was light, had good action, backbone, and was spined correctly. Good looking reel seat too. I just couldn't pull the trigger on a rod named alberto. Haha. it was around 60 dollars.

Wow if you are talking about the Albero Rods, they come from Japan very expensive rod. Sells for $480.00 and I have one brand new one to sell for $175.00 and access to 3 more. they are beautifully designed 82L 5-14 lbs good for bass and strippers. they are not $60.00 and if you can find them for that price, I highly recomend for you to jump on it.

Grab it for $60.00 if it still is there. Surf rods should be longer than 8' but its very durable. They are a little stiff but has a good back bone. I like it but like I said they are very expensive who ever is selling it don't seem to know what it really is worth. My friend just wants to unload them. I will be taking the one I have back to him, unless someone buys it for $175.00
