Fishing continues to sizzle here at Irvine Lake even after the masses came to Opening Weekend. Fisherman continue to hammer the fish on jigs and trolled lures as the fish are no doubt keying in on the lakes abundant shad and inland silverside population. Fish are being caught all over the lake however Woodys Cove and Boat Dock Cove seem to be the hot spot the last few days. The best news is "We are stocking another 5,000lbs of trout this week" ontop of the 20,000lbs we stocked for the opener. I encourage you to get out and go fishing this weekend guys and gals because the pictures your about to see could be you this weekend.

Dave 'Tiny" Pearson of Garden Grove is no stranger to the Trophy Trout here at Irvine Lake. Here he is with an 11.8 Rainbow Trout taken on a white power worm fished on a 1/32oz leadhead. Tiny was fishing from boat dock cove when he hooked into this Toad.

Joe Roushar of Wausau Wisonsin hear of the big trout bite at Irvine Lake and figured he come get him some of the big trout. Here Joe is with a 8.4 Rainbow Trout the wolfed down a Diawa Sc Shiner in the Bubbelgum pattern. The bubbelgum Sc Shiner is a proven producer at Irvine Lake and continues to put the big boys in the boat.

Tyler Hoem of Oceanside is pictured here with a 7.10 Rainbow Trout that ate a Mini Jig dipped in Bite On Roe.

Tim Blackshire caught an identical 7.10 Rainbow Trout as well while fishing boat dock cove with a White Atomic Tube dipped in Bite on Garlic.

Austin Moss of Long Beach is all smiles after he hooked and landed this huge 9lb Largemouth Bass while dropshotting a 3" Berkley Trout Worm. Austin was dropshoting for Trout when the big bucketmouth bit. To make the catch even more phenomanl Austin was using 2lb line!

With a little front set to come through this weekend this fishing is going to go Bonkers! All of these fish where taken in the past two days while I was away. The barometer is just starting to move and these fish are going to go on the chew. If you can get here in the next few days I would encourage you to do so because you just might cash in on that full stringer of fish or even the fish of a lifetime. Hope to see you this holiday weekend.
Fresh One!
Jimmy

Im thinking about going Sat. too. Will the rain slow the bite down or help?

Pre front and frotal conditions always can help a bite. Its just a matter if you are properly prepared to fish the conditions. Just bring some good foul weather gear and the bite should be pretty good.

I've only fished Irvine a few times. Where is Woody's Cove located? Always hear about it but don't know where it is located.

They have a map on their site that shows it. http://www.irvinelake.net/camping/map-of-campground

Woodys Cove is the 1st cove on the left hand side of the lake. It is a great cove for trout fishing during the 1st few months of the year traditionally. It is also a very good bass fishing spot during the spring and summer. Woodys Cove is also the location of several of our RV and tent campsites.
Thank you for whomever put up the link. I do appreciate that.

We did stock today! Fish are chewing the paint off the bottom of boats. If you are on facebook or twitter search Irvine Lake. If you see a picture of the lake taking from the old campgrounds on facebook you are in the right spot. On twitter it is a sign saying Irvine Lake. Those two sites are updated allmost daily with fish pictures and conditions on the lake.
