Fished DVL for 2 hrs before work with some friends and had an awesome bite! One of my buddys was using a jointed Z-plug and nailed a 6 lbs LMB first cast and then 10 min later a nice striper. Other buddy was using a bbz and getting swirled on like crazy but nothing committed. I was throwing a Hud. with no success so switched to a plunker and started getting follow-ups. Stuck with it and got nailed hard! This fish almost spooled me and actually got tangled in a guys line that was bait fishing across the cove. He ran to his pole to set the hook when my fish got wrapped in his line and i yelled to him that i was hooked up with a striper and to free spool it which thankfully he did. Anyways, Landed the fish with another smaller model and called it a morning. Having a fish fry so these ones were kept. Its been awhile since ive caught a 20+ lbr.... Nice to see something larger than the cookie cutter 12 lbrs.

That must have been a helluva battle! Hoping that striper weather this weekend will get me out of the 8lbs rut I'm in so far this year. Congratulations!

I'd prefer a 17lb largie over a 30lb striper any day. I caught a 30+ lb striper last year at dvl and was one of the last boats in and didn't even weight it till I hot home..... Would of been a lake record for sure. Showed 34lbs on a spring scale. I'll post pics one day... Anyways, although I'm a striper guy, the 17lb lmb would still be the better fish. I do believe there out there.

You got it all wrong,
I have killed a bunch of those myself,
but imagine he let it go and his friend catched that same fish
a couple of days later, the fun will be there for a while
at the rate we are killing them, dvl would be boring, and business slow
just like other lakes without big fish.

Sometimes the shortest trips yield the biggest rewards. Always sweet when it works out that way. Nice fish.. Well done..
