Not even Mother Nature could put a damper on Irvine Lake's 2011/2012 as some of the wet stuff fell from the skys today. I checked in at least 8 fish over the seven lb mark today alone. Two fish I do not have photos of due to the fish where all ready cleaned! The first fish weighed in at 11.6 minus the head and guts. The 2nd one weighed in at 10.0 and had no head, guts and had it tail hacked off.

Craig Adkinson of Orange hit the jackpot with this Brown Trout. Most people drive to the Sierra to catch a fish like this. No other lake stocks fish like this. Craigs monster Brown tipped the scales to 5.14 and was taken on a white Trout King mini jig. Craig was also using Bite On Garlic to help the fish key in on his bait.

Little Landon Grohs showed a lot of people how its done today. Bryce checked in his limit of trout while trolling the West Shore with various Rapalas.

Key baits today where defitley the brighter colored powerbaits espically the scented ones. Chrt Garlic, regular Garlic, and the Salmon Egg red from the Natural line of powerbaits where red hot. The Gulp Doughs the Marshmellow Cluster, and Chrt Gulp where equally effective. Nightcrawlers caught their fare share of fish as well. ADDIG SCENTS TO YOUR BAITS PAYED OFF HUGE TODAY! EITHER THE BITE ON GARLIC OR THE GULP ALIVE SPARAYS MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE!

For guys casting lures the mini jigs and trout worms where very effective. Hardware guys where reporting a lot of fish on Thomas Bouyants in the Flash Pink and Pearl White colors. Kastmaster where equally effective.

Trollers where getting them on the SC SHiner in Pink, Gold Orange and Matte Tiger. For the Rapalas the Firetiger, Shad and Rainbow Trout where the top producers.

Looks like we got a little bit of sunshine the next few days so I look foward to seeing everyone out here at Irvine Lake for Opening Weekend.

I got a couple stocker browns at gvl this year from calaveras but ill take a wild brown over the stocker all day. The gvl browns didn't quite fight like a wild brown...none the less that is one beautiful fish.
